"Fractal
Topology "
The subtle mathematics of nature are frozen in stone at Antelope-Corkscrew Canyon, Utah. Corkscrew Canyon is a slot canyon and was formed over many years as rushing water eroded the Navajo sandstone. The canyon was cut and scoured by water and wind and the striations of sandstone have become almost incandescent. This phenomenon has created "hollows" in the canyon and spectacular scenes as the light penetrates through the top of the cave. Source: http://www.photoscene.com/sberlin/scenics/corkscrew.html |
Three
Christmas Balls. In fact, they are three lightbulbs. This is the easiest way
to produce a fractal. Where the lightbulbs touch you have a fractal pattern
since each sphere has a mirror image of the other two spheres, which contain
mirror images of ...(ad infinitum).

Is this Escher tesselation a fractal? No (?), but it also shows
infinite self-similarity. ?and emergent properties?
